The blogging world has been buzzing with Teacher Appreciation Week freebies and ideas. I know I’ve personally been feeling the love at school too. 3-6 Free Resources, another blog where I contribute, is hosting its first linky party where you can share how your school celebrates teachers. I’m hoping to find lots of ideas to save for next year. I also started a Pinterest board with some of my favorite Teacher Appreciation gifts.
Our week started on Monday with a lunch for teachers and staff. It was extra special because our beloved former cafeteria manager, who retired a few years ago, cooked for us. I love it when we have lunches like this because everyone gathers in the library to eat together. Our building is divided into two wings, which means I often go weeks without catching up with some of my favorite teachers from the other end of the building. It’s also nice to just relax and take a full lunch break instead of rushing back to our room to work.
On Tuesday morning we were treated to donuts in the cafeteria at 7:30. Even though I hate getting out of bed a little early, it was worth it because a bigger crowd can gather for breakfast instead of being spread out over the different lunch periods. I’m always down for a free donut too because I’m usually a healthy cereal girl through the week. 🙂 Wednesday brought another breakfast treat when the office staff cooked a big breakfast for the teachers.
The PTO also arranged for us to receive little tokens of appreciation on our desks each day, like the awesome cookies above. We snagged lots of sweets with cute little cards. Those certainly come in handy on the way home. 😉
I have to say though, the best gifts are the ones from my students. I love the handmade cards and sincere notes they give me (even when they say YOUR the best, sigh). One of my cute little girls made card for me and then stuck it on my desk chair so I’d find it when I sat down. I admit it took me a while to find it (who ever has time to sit down?!), but she was so happy when I did. Another student brought me a shiny red apple with a card. I love those little gestures!
Click on over to link to your teacher appreciation post. We plan to use this linky party as the first in a monthly
series called Show Me Sundays. Be sure to become a follower so you
don’t miss out!

Ahhhh… what great fun! Thanks for linking up!!
