It’s Monday again. I’ve been a bad crafter and haven’t linked up with Tara for a couple weeks. I’ll show you why at the end of the post, but let’s get to the goods.
First up, a magnetic board for reading group assignments behind my desk. I had planned to go the decorated cookie sheet route, but stumbled across these boards that were the perfect shape in Hobby Lobby. Unfortunately, they weren’t the perfect colors for our room.
That was easily fixed with a little sanding and paint, but first the magnets. I wanted to make glittery magnets, even though I’m not a fan of the mess glitter can make. It’s literally as easy as a pool of glue covered with glitter. Once they dried, I added mod podge to keep the glitter in place.
I’m pretty pleased with the finished product. I turned the vertical board into a horizontal one, so the ribbon isn’t perfectly symmetrical. My husband offered to drill new holes, but I think I’m good with it.
I also had to pretty-up a couple of room basics. We’re required to have an emergency binder by our door in these little wall paper holders, but the binders are really ugly and don’t match my decor so I used scrapbook paper to dress it up. I had enough leftover to do my paperclip cube too.
And… here’s the reason I haven’t linked up with Monday Made It the last couple weeks. I’ve been sewing items for friends!
What are you working on? I can’t wait to see it!

Everything looks so cute, Christi! I'm thinking about that clear pocket…hummmm.

Looks like you've been busy creating recently! I love how your reading group magnetic board turned out. Thanks for the tip of adding mod podge after the glitter has dried so none of it flakes off afterward!
