We’re wrapping up our amazing animal research and starting our rough drafts this week, but I’m just now getting around to sharing this penguin freebie with you. I start our amazing animal unit with a week-long study of penguins each year. At the end of the week, students make penguins that look like the species they studied (Emperor, Adelie, etc.). I give the students a basic penguin template and then let them customize it to match their specific penguin. They end up so cute!
This year, I had my students glue the penguins onto construction paper and write poems or informational captions around them. Last year, we didn’t have as much time so we just tossed them up on an iceberg in the hallway. Either way, it makes a great hallway display that shows what we’ve learned!
You can grab the template for free in my TpT store. Please take a second to leave a comment/rating if you can use it. Thanks!

These are great – thanks for sharing. I teach a penguin unit in January and this will be a great addition.
Thanks so much Christi! The penguins are adorable!
