I Need An Intervention

Hi, friends! I am literally bouncing around over here so you are probably lucky that we’re on different sides of the computer. I left school feeling so drained, drained, drained but that changed in a hot minute once we sent our kiddos off to the buses in a flurry of cartwheels {the teachers, not the students because we’re fun like that} last Tuesday. For real! I loved those guys but I needed a break. Since then, I’ve found myself staying up until the wee hours of the morning working at my computer. On what, you ask? Things for next year of course! ahaha… Why is it I couldn’t wait for summer and yet I’m already working on things for back to school? It’s a sickness. Honestly. Here’s what I’ve been up to…

Bunting. I love bunting. Love, love, love. I can’t have enough of it, apparently. I’ve been sewing pencil banners, but I wanted bigger pieces to hang above my huge back bulletin board. I adore it! I’m working on a polka dot set too though because chevrons… polka dots… chevrons… a girl needs both, honestly.

Speaking of polka dots, check out my new genre posters. I’m going to cover my closet doors with them and also make printed reference books for my students’ reading folders with these smaller versions. I’m trying to resist making them in chevron too. I just can’t decide, people!

While I was having my new things printed at Staples, I accidentally went down the school supply aisle.Watermelon Scentos {my favorite!}, chevron ribbon, cute magnets, more bright pencils for planning. Sigh… Like I said, it’s a sickness.

I obviously need an intervention. Maybe our upcoming vacation will put me in relaxation mode. {Or maybe I’ll sneak my laptop into my beach bag!}

  1. I laughed when I read this Christi 'cause I know I will be doing the same when I am out in a few weeks. I'm not allowed to take me laptop on vacations anymore :/

The bunting is just gorgeous!! I hope you have a blast creating.

    1. My husband tried to hold my laptop hostage, but he eventually realized it was pointless. 🙂 It's a long drive so I usually work in the car. I *try* to put it away once we get there.

I hope those weeks fly for you!

  2. Two weeks before school was out I was planning for summer school. Now summer school has started and I am planning for next year. It's crazy, but I love my job!!!

    1. I remember those days. =) You will be so set when you get that classroom. I'll never forget walking into my room and feeling like it was HUGE and wondering how I'd ever fill it with the stuff I had hoarded along the way. 🙂

  3. Your bunting is adorable! This year I will be hanging some across my windows. I know it will add the "finishing touches". I think most teachers are dealing with the same sickness as you. I have two weeks left in the school year, but I have all ready started planning for next year.

  4. Love the bunting AND the posters! I've wishlisted both for next year! 🙂 I still have a month of teaching to go, and then I imagine I'll also need to pry myself away from the computer, or have my husband at me about taking a break!!

Enjoy at least SOME of your vacation!!

  5. Christi-
I love your bunting. Definitely going on my wishlist. I'm like you though when deciding between spots or chevrons. I've been obsessed with spots for years and put them throughout my room this year, but I think I'll be mixing in some chevrons with it next year.
I've had the last week off (we still have 7 and a half weeks left of school!) and literally have been planning on what to do for next year. The man hates that I can't stop obsessing about school!

  6. Too true. I still have a month to go and my husband is accusing me of being hostage to the computer. Between blogging, catching up with posts on Facebook, preparing school lessons, and then making products, my mind doesn't shut off at night and I find it hard to sleep. I keep thinking of all the things I could be doing.
I am off to Korea to see my son and his family in July and returning via Hawaii for my niece's wedding. Of course my computer is traveling with me. I will have to use great will power to leave it alone while I am with them.
Here's to some time for relaxation for all of us. With support we will do it!
