I enjoy our classroom website, but I don’t have a lot of time to devote to it because we all know there isn’t time during the school day to get extra things like that finished. I’ve used several different photo sharing sites over the years, but my current obsession is Slide.ly.
It actually looks very similar to Photobucket. I tried to sign up by email twice, but never received the confirmation email. When I signed up with Facebook, it worked the first time. Don’t ya love how Facebook is taking over the world? 😉 Anyway, setting up an account only took a second.
Then, I uploaded pictures from our Johnny Appleseed celebration. I already had the pictures I needed on my computer, but you can also upload from your Facebook album, Instagram profile, and other social sites.
After that, I picked a graphic theme to go behind our pictures and a song from the internet. Slide.ly is already linked to several songs on the internet (from sites like You Tube) so you don’t have to upload your own music. Our slideshow was about Johnny Appleseed week, so I picked a song that I had already shown in class to play behind our pictures. You can decide if you want the whole song to play, or just part of the song.
Finally, I saved my show and copied/pasted the code onto our class website. You can also share it by email or post it on your Facebook page or other social media sites when you’re finished. You can also set the video to “private” so it doesn’t show up on the Slide.ly website.
I don’t like to share pictures of my students here on Ms. Fultz’s Corner so I made a sample Slide.ly with generic classroom pictures so you can see it in action. I picked a Kid President video to play behind it. Pretty cool, huh?!

Very cool – do people use that word any more? I had never even heard of Slidely before. Thanks for sharing!
