Our Great Potato Disguise Contest is one of my favorite projects each year so I *had* to share this year’s new batch of potato projects with you. For my new followers, you can check out my previous post on our projects to see more examples.
Basically, students disguise a potato at home for homework during the week and bring them to school on Friday. They must keep their projects TOP SECRET {which is the hardest part} until reveal day. I display the projects on our table and teachers secretly cast ballots for their favorite disguise throughout the day. I like making it a contest because students really get into the competition and are eager to do their very best.
In addition to the disguise contest, we spend the week doing creative writing about our new friends. It’s amazing to me how much more invested my students are when they’re writing all about their projects. They take so much pride in their work and their imaginations are simply endless.
If you want to try it with your class, you can grab my print-and-go packet on TpT.

These turned out so cute! I've had the Potato Disguise product on my wish list for a while and I'm loving the pictures that go with it! Too cute!
Such an adorable idea! I might have to try it out next year. 🙂

Such a cute idea!! If I do is this week and then have the potatoes in my room for a week over Spring Break, do you think they will be ok???
How cute! Your students are very creative.

I love the disguises. We do this for Halloween instead of pumpkins, because it is easier for all the kids to get a potato. The kids absolutely love this activity.
This is so adorbs! I missed it as a St. Patty's activity but I WILL be doing it next year. I just downloaded the Chick Adoption Pack and bought some Peeps. That idea is super cute as well!
