Wordless Wednesday– Data

All that data we were talking about over on Instagram has been calculated… we passed! This is my “Part B” evaluation, which will be used on the pay for performance portion of my evaluation this year. Glad it’s in the books and super proud of my third graders!

Do you have pay for performance in your school/state? How do you feel about it?

I’m linking up with Christina over at Wordless Wednesday. Head on over!

  1. My last school did pay for performance for the state and NWEA results for the kids. Meaning students who met their growth goals were given money. Yes, money…not gift cards or field trips, but cash money. It sparked a pretty interesting and critical conversation to say the least. Even more interesting was that the results were not THAT much further ahead from the previous year, and I'd like to say the money incentive was a minor factor. Additionally, teachers did not receive a dime. #realtalk

  2. I have heard about this possibly coming to Kansas but I don't know a lot about it. It sounds very scary to me. What do they do with your pay? Do they give you a bonus? You seem to have done a good job with your students. What comes next with it? I would love to read about how it all works if you are ever interested in posting about it.

    1. In order to receive a raise from one year to the next, you have to earn it through a combination of classroom evaluation and student data scores. Otherwise, your pay is frozen.

  3. The whole pay for performance thing is a load of crap. Our kids are not widgets. They are individuals with varying abilities. And there's no consistency. What if you got students next year who don't do as well? Does that all of a sudden make you a failure as a teacher? That's what is happening to some folks. I am glad you did well, and hope you continue to do well in the future!
