Hello, teacher friends! This weekend was a whirlwind. We zipped down to Louisville on Friday for my cousin’s wedding. It was a gorgeous summer garden affair, total perfection! Then I hung around with my nephew Saturday. We hadn’t been down since Christmas and it’s amazing how fast that little monster had grown. 😉 He’ll be two next month and was talking up a storm this time. Sunday meant a long drive back home, punctuated by a few shopping stops along the way. I grabbed a few cute things for my classroom this fall {more on that later… I need a break first!}. I was also Sunday’s featured teacher in the Teachers Pay Teachers newsletter. That was fun to wake up to on Sunday morning.
But now I’m home and back in the swing of things. It’s Monday so it’s time to link up with The Teaching Tribune’s Meet Up Monday! Last week we paired up and linked up with a buddy, but this week it’s all about YOU! Here’s mine:
Most of you know I teach third grade in Indiana even though I live outside of Dayton, OH. The joys of being a med school wife. 😉 My husband and I both commute and split the difference by living in the middle for now.
I have THREE online businesses that keep me very busy. They came about largely because of my husband’s busy schedule as a medical student. I launch this blog and ramped up my Teachers Pay Teachers store because of his long hours studying during his first 2 years of med school. As if that wasn’t enough, I stumbled into Design by Christi, where I create blog designs and have an Etsy store. I joke that I need a new project once a year and created Plaid Apple Ltd. to house them all. I wonder what I’ll start next year?! 😉
While I’m juggling all of this largely from my couch, I watch way too much reality TV and listen to music. I cannot stand silence and can’t concentrate without the TV or iPod on. Does that make me totally crazy? Sister Wives, a few varieties of Real Housewives, Amazing Race… I enjoy a wide variety of junk. haha I’ve also been known to rock old school Bon Jovi and Van Morrison mixed with Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley, and Daughtry.
Finally, I’m super glad it’s summer because I hardly have time to read for fun during the school year. We vacation for a week in the Outer Banks each year and I’ve been known to devour stacks of books on the long drive there as well as on the beach while my husband plays in the water. I prefer crime/mystery stories, but also go for a good love story of the Nicholas Spark type too. It’s nice to turn off my brain and get lost in a book every once in a while. =)
Now that I’ve spilled my guts, I’d love to get to know more about YOU too. You can link up with us here!

You DO do everything at once. I've always said that you are our business mogul!
We've been friends for a while and I love that I get to call you friend. <3
I'm so glad that you have 3 successful online businesses – I'm happy to have been a part of them haha! You designed my FABULOUS blog and introduced me to the wonderful world of Jamberry!
I sure wish I could read in the car – I get car sick so I can't even mess with my phone without feeling sick :/

I agree I have a difficult time sitting in silence. I have to have music or the TV on the background. Congrats on being featured on TPT so cool! They say busy people are the best ones to join a new business since they already know how to juggle everything. Great job on your new venture!

LOL! I demand a cape! 😉
I love Sister Wives too! I'm bummed because I haven't been able to watch it at all since moving to Korea. Is it still on? And THREE businesses while teaching? Wow! I'm impressed!
