Wordless Wednesday: Happiness

July 23, 2014

Today I’m writing to you from my happy place, The Outer Banks of North Carolina {OBX}. My husband and I have been coming here every summer since we started dating and were married here in 2011. It’s where we come to unwind each summer and reevaluate our goals for the next year. Lots of reflection, just like this picture I took last night.

What do you do to recharge your batteries?

What's recharging mean?! Living 200 miles from any family, being a teacher and having a special needs kid is exhausting. When our parents come to visit- I catch up on sleep. I guess I rest when I'm dead. It's overrated. My kid and job keep me going I think I'd be bored. I'd love to recharge by having wine with my husband on a dock restaurant. What a beautiful picture!!!

I re-charge in the early mornings when I walk my dogs! We are the only ones on the street at 5 a.m., and I enjoy the quiet calm before my busy days!

I've never been to the Outer Banks, but have read a lot about it and really wnat to go there someday!

What a gorgeous photo! Enjoy your time there with your husband, it's such a nice idea to do that every year. I re-charge best in summer when I'm totally free. But, during the school year I love my time, on the woodsy trail, with my little dog.,

So beautiful! I'd love to visit there someday. When I need to recharge, I grab a book, my incorrigible old cat, and flop in my rocker… no TV, phone off… ah, a little heaven.

I love to go on hikes in nearby state parks to recharge. Beautiful picture!

  7. Miss King says: July 23, 2014 at 12:56 pm

I LOVE the beach! That is a beautiful picture. When I lived in NC that was my happy place to recharge. I would go down for just the day or weekend and come back feeling great! Now, I am back in OH. I live right next to a small lake and a beautiful park. Sometimes I go sit on the "beach" at the lake or I go running at the park!

My husband and I are going there August 8th. My best friend and her husband from Virginia are going to meet us there. We've never been before but I can't wait! Have so much fun!

My re-charging happens at the beach in Florida! I was not able to go b/c I had a baby three weeks ago but I plan to go next summer! I love watching my children play and simply listening to the waves! My home away from home!

  10. C Hath says: July 23, 2014 at 2:23 pm

What an amazing picture!!! 🙂 I love looking out on a body of water!! I wish we lived a lot closer to a place where I could go and do this! I like to have a little me time to recharge, even if it is sitting in a Starbucks for half an hour in the morning, without kids, to read and respond to blogs!

Gorgeous! living on the west coast a road trip from Phoenix to San Diego is what I can handle when I need to go to the beach to relax. Otherwise, cuddling up with my dog while watching TV accompanied by some red wine and chocolate are perfection when I need to unwind from the daily grind!

I am blessed to live about 45 minutes from the outer bank and I agree it is the best! I try to go to the beach at least once a week during the summer. Enjoy your stay! SUMMER is how I recharge. I get caught up on my "to do" list at home, find fresh new ideas for the classroom, and READ, READ, READ!

Some of my favorite childhood memories are making cupcakes with my mom. When I saw the I’m The Chef Too subscription box, it was an easy YES. Almost everything you need is right inside the box each month to make it easy. There are typically about 3 servings, so you make enough for everyone to have one treat without leftovers hanging around.

Now... who is going to clean up this mess??
