Meet the Teacher Linky Party

August 12, 2014

Stephanie over at Falling into First is doing a fun get to know you linky. This little blogging community of ours continues to grow and expand so I thought it was a great time to link up. I love getting to know more about my teacher friends inside and outside the classroom!

So… I’m Christi Fultz. I live in Ohio with my husband and our three furbabies. After teaching third grade in Indiana for nine years, I’ve decided to take this year off to concentrate more on my blog designs, curriculum products, and personal projects. It’s been a scary decision, but also an exciting one. I’m 100% a teacher at heart and am sure my days in the classroom aren’t over for good though.

I’m a beach lover too, so the most exciting thing we did this summer was our annual Outer Banks beach trip. In true Christi form, I brought my laptop along and did a little work on our deck overlooking the ocean. I.can’t.help.it. I guess it’s true what they say… when you enjoy your work, working doesn’t feel like work at all! 😉

I also love to travel. That’s another reason I decided to take a year off from teaching. In addition to another week at the beach this fall, I’ll also be going to:

Park City, UT

St. Lous, MO
Fayetteville, NC

New York City!
San Diego, CA
Orlando, FL
Denver, CO
Riviera Maya Mexico!
Dallas, TX

Seriously so lucky! Let me know if you want to meet up. 😉 Now on to the questions…

THESE ARE A FEW OF MY FAVORITE THINGS…

Flip flops, fresh flowers, walks with my dogs, melon snow cones, everything Apple, Frixion pens, bubble baths, beachy candles, hot pink toenails

IF YOU WEREN’T A TEACHER, WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO BE?
I’m getting to experiment with this a little right now. =) I always said I’d like to do something with teacher development– university supervisor, mentor, reading coach, etc. That’s still in education though. If I had to do something totally different, I’d focus on my blog designs. PhotoShop is the best therapy!

THREE LITTLE WORDS THAT DESCRIBE YOU.
Determined. Creative. Optimistic.

FINISH THE SENTENCE, “________, SAID NO TEACHER EVER!!”
“Sure, I’d love to go to another RtI meeting.”

Q: IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY AND YOU CAN INVITE ANYONE {DEAD OR ALIVE} TO THE PARTY. WHO ARE YOU INVITING?
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I’m going to admit this… I’d totally invite Jon Bon Jovi! 😉

Q: IF SOMEONE WROTE A BOOK ABOUT YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD BE THE TITLE?
She Believed She Coud, So She Did

Q:YOU GET TO PICK ONE SUPERPOWER. WHAT IS IT?
I would totally want to read minds. I’m always asking my husband what our dogs are thinking, haha.

Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE OR SAYING?

Q: IF YOU HAD TO SING ONE SONG ON AMERICAN IDOL, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
“It’s My life” – Bon Jovi

I will totally belt this one out every time it comes on the iPod.

Q: ARE YOU A MORNING PERSON OR A NIGHT OWL?
I am totally a night owl. I’m starting to get quite the reputation for it actually. 😉 I function best after midnight and easily go to bed at 4:00am. Mornings are not my friend. Ever.

Q: WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE RESOURCE THAT YOU’VE CREATED IN YOUR TPT SHOP?
I really love all of my Big Kid Units. There’s just something about thematic fun across content areas that third graders love. My penguin one is probably my favorite because I have been obsessed with penguins for as long as I can remember. Seriously, my husband made me weed out my collection of them from the office. 😉

SHARE SOMETHING WE MIGHT NOT KNOW ABOUT YOU!
Oh my gosh, I don’t know! I feel like I’m such an open book. Probably that I’m really hard on myself. I do such a great job cheering everyone else on, forgiving mistakes, saying it’s okay when we fall short. I’m my own worst critic. Live and learn, right? 🙂

Have fun on your new adventure this year. Even for "taking a year off" you sound very busy. I love staying up late, too. Hopefully you come to Columbus, OH at some point.
Thanks for doing an amazing job on my blog design!

Yes! I'm planning to come to Columbus for the regional. I didn't count it since it's in my own state. 😉

I'm a total night owl as well. My daughter is too – the problem is she's 5! I think Kindergarten is going to be a sad wake up call in 2 weeks. Every night she begs to stay up "all night long". I promised her one night this summer we would, but I was out at 2 a.m.

I'm in Dallas, when ya coming?

    • Christi Fultz says: August 13, 2014 at 2:19 am

Dallas is one of my last stops– next July. Good luck getting her up for school. 😉

I will definitely share pictures! Most of them are related to our #jamberryworldtour of regionals. NYC is for TpT though!

Sounds like you have a fun year planned!!! YAHOOO to San Diego. It's the best city in the world 🙂 Let me know if you need any suggestions on places to go or things to do! I've lived in San Diego my entire life.

P.S. How do people put a hyperlink to their blog in a comment? I can't figure it out for the life of me!!

    • Christi Fultz says: August 13, 2014 at 2:22 am

Fun! I'm super excited about the San Diego stop. Never been that far West!

You can link your blog in your comments with a little code. I'll email it to you since it won't take here in the comments without actually turning it into the link I'm trying to teach you. 😉

Love your blog! I love Bon Jovi too. My answers are very similar to yours on your questions. We could hang out and belt out tunes while you share great ideas. I'm in The Dallas area.

    Enjoy your travels!
